DescriptionThe Federal Agency’s Office of Surface Mining is accepting applications for the Non-For-Profit Acid Mine Drainage Reclamation Program. The Program provides support to local organizations especially watershed groups, to begin construction projects that will improve the water quality of streams impacted by acid mine drainage. Lands and water eligible for reclamation or drainage abatement expenditures are those which were mined for coal or which were affected by such mining, wastebanks, coal processing, or other coal mining processes. Eligible applicants are nonprofits with the exception of institutions of higher education. Although no funds have been specifically earmarked for 2014, the Agency will accept requests for funding.
