DescriptionThe Institute named for a leader of the labor, civil rights, and anti-war movement, supports several active grantmaking programs promoting nonviolent action for social justice in the United States and around the world. Grantmaking is focused on ending war and exposing the military-industrial complex; opposing nuclear power and halting environmental racism; stopping the death penalty and curbing the prison industry; defending labor rights and building economic justice; fighting for racial and sexual equality and immigrant rights; and promoting the use of nonviolent action.
