Description

The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of CHS, an energy, grants, and foods company with a stewardship focus on building vibrant communities. Formed from the merger of the Cenex Foundation and the Harvest States Foundation in 1998, the Foundation focuses its grantmaking on five areas: university partnerships, rural youth leadership development, cooperative education, returning value to rural communities, and farm and agricultural safety. The Foundation supports national efforts related to its mission. Funding is also available for programs within the CHS trade territory for regional, multi-state, or statewide projects. Giving outside of national efforts typically reaches the following states: Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. All applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis with the exception of the Cooperative Education grants, which must be submitted by September 30. Depending upon circumstances, other geographic regions may be considered. Specific details about the individual grant programs as well as an online application can be found on the Web site.
