Paul Rapoport Foundation

Category

: LGBTQIA+

Description

The Foundation was developed by Paul Rapoport, a founder of Gay Men’s Health Crisis and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Community Center of New York. The Foundation, which will cease making grants on June 30, 2014 and close its doors a year later, focuses its grantmaking on the following areas: transgender communities of color; LGTBQ (Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual, Queer) youth of color who are age 24 and under; and LGTB seniors of color age 60 and older. Priority is given to organizations and grant applications that meet the Foundation’s goals for achieving racial and economic equality within the LGTB community. Of particular interest are those that serve at least 50% of LGTBQ people of color and who can demonstrate that the composition of the organization’s board and staff strives to reflect these communities in similar proportion. Grants will fund direct services to and advocacy for and by our three target populations, as well as support for organizational development for agencies serving these populations. The Foundation funds primarily within the five boroughs of New York City, as well as on Long Island, in Westchester and New Jersey. National organizations can apply if their programs are specific to the New York Metropolitan area. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
