DescriptionThe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the technology Company, focuses its grantmaking on programs and projects in education, community, health and wellness, and disaster response. It targets grants toward the communities where it operates around the world. The Foundation seeks to find and fund best-in-class organizations around the world that support the Company’s strategic focus areas and work with them to improve communities. The Foundation’s Empowerment Grants are an opportunity for U.S.-based nonprofits to apply for funding to empower their communities. Funds for these grants support education, health and wellness, and community. Education grants seek to build the classroom of the 21st century by incorporating technology. Health and wellness grants drive solutions around the issues of healthy behavior through the use of technology. Community grants foster innovation and creative solutions to community-based issues, including environmental issues, with technology tools. Applicants for the Empowerment grants must have an operating budget under $5 million and must serve communities in California, Massachusetts, Illinois, or Pennsylvania.
