Description

The Foundation is committed to providing support that directly improves the lives of the blind and visually impaired, helping them realize their full potential in society. Grants are made to nonprofits serving the blind and visually impaired. Priority is given to programs that have clear objectives and measurable results; a sound budget with the potential to attract funding beyond the life of the grant; a strong communications strategy to publicize the program; and evidence of the program’s ability to make a difference in the lives of the people it’s intended to serve. Grants are available to organizations working on both a local and national level, although priority is given to organizations located in the Maine to Washington, DC corridor. Proposals are accepted any time during the year, but decisions are made during quarterly board meetings in March, June, September, and December. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
