Description

The Foundation’s Breast Cancer Safety Net Program is accepting letters of intent from regional and community hospitals working to provide medically underserved women with access to post-screening diagnostics and care. Grants support institutions and organizations that care for uninsured, at-risk, low income, and minority patients in their communities. Eligible applicants include public hospitals, safety-net hospitals, community clinics, and cancer centers with a history of effectively navigating patients through the health care system and ensuring consistent, high-quality care. The 2011 initiative emphasizes support of patient navigation programs or partial support for equipment for safety-net hospitals to enhance breast cancer care for the medically underserved. Safety net applicants may request up to $125,000 per year for up to two years. All applicants are required to submit a letter of intent. The deadline for letters of intent is geographically based. Letters of intent are due by March 15 for San Francisco and Los Angeles-Santa Barbara; July 15 for New York City and Charlotte, NC; and September 15 for Houston and all other cities/regions in the United States. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
