Acorn Foundation
Category: Environment
DescriptionThe Foundation is dedicated to advancing community-based organizations working for environmental conservation, sustainability, and environmental justice. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on small and innovative community-based projects that engage in community organizing. The projects should preserve and protect habitats supporting biological diversity and wildlife; advocate for environmental justice, particularly in low-income and indigenous communities; or prevent or remedy toxic pollution. The first step in the application process is a letter of inquiry. Current funding priorities are organizations based in the Western and Southern United States and Appalachia. The Foundation does not support organizations with total annual budgets over $400,000 a year. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
