DescriptionThe Foundation has a history of progressive grantmaking. The Foundation is committed to grassroots social change organizations that are committed to community organizing. Applicants should utilize membership or grassroots participation to represent the interests of communities in which they are based. They should expand community control over economic, social, and environmental decisions affecting the community’s well being. They should also build a strong, informed voice on public policy issues. Common Counsel Foundation manages the Foundation’s western grant program. Organizations based east of the Mississippi River should apply to the Foundation’s eastern office. Letters of inquiry are accepted; full proposals are by invitation only.
