Description

The Foundation was established in the mid-1960s by the late entrepreneur and philanthropist, Ewing Marion Kauffman. The Foundation’s vision is to foster “a society of economically independent individuals who are engaged citizens, contributing the improvement of their communities.” The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on two areas: advancing entrepreneurship and improving the education of children and youth. Grants are awarded in four program areas: entrepreneurship, advancing innovation, education, and research and policy. Programs and projects that have significant potential to demonstrate innovative service delivery in support of education and entrepreneurship are a priority. The majority of the Foundation’s education grants go to organizations within the Kansas City metropolitan area. Entrepreneurship grants fund programs and activities nationally and within the Kansas City area. Letters of inquiry are requested. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
