Open Society Institute
Category: Public Policy
DescriptionThe Institute’s global drug policy program aims to broaden, diversify, and consolidate the network of organizations actively challenging the current state of international drug policy. Stemming from the notion that the “war on drugs” is actually a “war on drug users,” the Program advocates a more balanced approach in international drug policy with a greater focus on human rights. The Program is dedicated to utilizing scientific evidence and input from organizations and individuals engaged in and affected by drug use and drug policy in the development of policy recommendations. The Program welcomes proposals from organizations worldwide and from a multitude of fields: economics, policy, public health, human rights, and the media. Projects are expected to demonstrate co-funding and the Program only funds projects that last a year. Additional information including an online application can be found on the Web site.
