Elsevier Foundation
Category: International
DescriptionThe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the publishing company, awards grants to nonprofit, knowledge-centered organizations focusing on the world’s libraries, nurse faculty, and women scholars during their early- and mid-careers. The Foundation’s Innovative Libraries in Developing Countries program helps libraries enhance the quality of life in developing countries by improving their ability to put scientific, technical, and medical information to work for those who need it. Of particular interest are programs that enhance library infrastructure, technology, or information services in ways that significantly enhance their ability to make scientific/social sciences, technical, and medical information available to those who need it. The Foundation is also interested in funding programs that enhance or expand library information resources in the developing world through digitation or preservation of information that advances science, health, the environment, and indigenous knowledge. Other areas of interest are training and education programs for library staff, students, or researchers and partnerships between libraries in the developing countries and institutions in the developed countries to provide technical assistance or training. Applications will be available August 1 through the Foundation’s online grant application proposal system. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
