DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the sporting goods Company. It strives to make a difference in the lives of youth by funding organizations that provide opportunities for youth participation. Of particular interest are established camps with an emphasis on sports and active lifestyle, especially those serving disadvantaged and special needs children and youth athletic programs. Youth athletic program grants support community-based programs focusing on active lifestyles and team building skills. All funded programs should provide opportunities for children and young adults age 18 and under. They should also provide direct services to individuals and produce tangible results. In addition to its traditional grants program, the Foundation is also initiating two larger-scale grant opportunities, the Founder’s Grant ($5,000 to $25,000) and the Legacy Grant ($10,000 to $75,000). Founder’s grants will be awarded to qualifying organizations that have an emergency need such as natural disasters or sudden and unexpected changes in other funding, that are keeping the organization from providing current services. Legacy grants will be awarded to qualifying organizations in need of improvements and/or renovations to existing buildings, grounds, and property, or for new facilities and/or grounds.
