Description

The Foundation strives to help the people of Texas improve the quality and circumstances of life for themselves and future generations. Grantmaking priority targets three areas: conservation of the natural environment; improving the educational outcomes of Texas children in grades K-12; and mental health services. The Foundation has also supported arts and culture programs and awarded civic and public affairs grants. Responding to the current economic climate, the Foundation has prioritized its grantmaking to support essential human services. It also seeks ways to help families avoid home foreclosure, provide job training for the unemployed, and healthcare for those without insurance. In addition, the Foundation will provide grants and no-interest loans for emergency operating funds that enable nonprofits to survive and emerge stronger. One third to one half of the grants are earmarked for nonprofits in the Dallas area. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
