The Getty Foundation
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe Foundation supports individuals and institutions committed to advancing the understanding and preservation of the visual arts locally and throughout the world. The majority of funding is through initiatives that target a particular issue or region, and that are carried out in collaboration with the other Getty programs (the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Research Institute, and the Getty Conservation Institute). The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on four areas: access to museum and archival collections; art history as a global discipline; advancing conservation practice; and leadership and professional development. Under access to museum and archival collections, the Foundation is focusing on two initiatives: connecting art histories and art in translation. Advancing conservation practice grants promotes the interdisciplinary practice of conservation. Initiatives supported include panel paintings and mosaikon. Leadership and professional development grants support the multicultural undergraduate interns program, graduate interns, leadership development, and the Getty Leadership Institute. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
