The Scherman Foundation

Category

: General

Description

The Foundation, founded in 1941 by Harry Scherman, founder of the Book-of-the-Month Club, focuses its grantmaking on the following areas: the environment, human rights and liberties, reproductive rights and services, the arts, and social welfare. Priorities for grants in the arts and social welfare are organizations in New York City. The Foundation does not fund colleges, universities, or professional schools, nor does it make grants to capital campaigns, individuals, or in support of conferences, specific media or arts productions. The Foundation meets four times a year. Requests for support should be made in a brief letter of inquiry to the president. Additional information can be found on Web site.
