Description

The Fund supports the apostolic work of Roman Catholic sisters. Only vowed members of officially recognized Roman Catholic congregations of women religious are eligible to receive funding. Areas funded include education, health, social services, and leadership conferences. Education grants are awarded for preschools, kindergartens, and child care; primary and secondary schools; adult education and literacy; vocational training and job creation; and women’s empowerment. Health grants are awarded to clinics and dispensaries; maternal and infant health care; nursing homes and elder care; HIV/AIDS awareness, treatment, and support; providing access to safe drinking water; and nutrition and feeding programs. Social services grants fund programs for the disabled, orphans, and abandoned children; transitional housing programs; programs addressing human trafficking; immigrant and refugee services, emergency relief in response to natural disasters, and programs promoting economic sustainability and self-reliance. Leadership conference funding supports national and regional leadership conferences of women religious in the developing world. All prospective applicants must submit a project proposal.
