DescriptionThe Foundation is seeking proposals for its Alzheimer’s Disease Group Respite program. Funding will be available for up to 40 Group Respite and Early Memory Loss Programs. Funds may be requested to develop a new dementia-specific, social model program. Eligible programs must be community-based, social model, day service programs that provide dementia-specific group activities for participants and respite from caregiving tasks for family caregivers. Programs must be open a minimum of one day a week for at least four hours per session, offering people with Alzheimer’s or related dementias, regularly scheduled opportunities for socialization and meaningful group activities in a supportive environment. Programs for frail elders or other populations that include dementia participants as part of their overall client group are not eligible. Selected organizations will receive a $7,500 grant in year one followed by $3,000 in year two. The sponsoring organization must provide a 1:1 match of cash and/or substantive in-kind support.
