DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the do-it-yourself toy company. It supports nonprofits in the United States and Canada that enhance the quality of life for children, families, and pets. The Foundation’s three funding interests are children’s health and wellness, domestic pets, and literacy and education. Health and wellness grants support childhood disease research foundations, child safety organizations, and organizations that serve children with special needs. Domestic pets grants provide direct support for animals in domestic pet programs including animal welfare organizations, pet rescue and rehabilitation organizations, and therapeutic and humane education pet programs. Literacy and education program supports summer reading programs, early childhood education programs, and literacy programs for children with special needs. For 2010, the Foundation will begin accepting online applications on March 2 and will review them on a rolling basis throughout the year. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
