Description

Founded in 1986 by a Christian layman with a deep commitment to meditation and a desire that others share his heritage, the Foundation’s mission is to encourage meditation and contemplative practice among Christians. Grantmaking is focused on organizations that reclaim and teach Christian contemplative traditions, those that introduce meditation in the Christian community, or those that further understanding of contemplative practice in all spiritual traditions. The Foundation’s focus is on short-term projects where a small grant can make a credible impact and result in clearly identifiable outcomes. Projects funded include workshops, lectures, or retreats; sabbaticals, retreats, and other development for meditation teachers or group leaders; books, supplies, and equipment for meditation and spiritual growth centers; and publications that effectively spread critical perspectives on meditation. Other funded projects include efforts to better expand and build the capacity of programs in Christian contemplation and those that address barriers to practice as well as research on meditation, East/West meditation dialogue, and meditation curriculum development. The Foundation does not accept proposals submitted as emails or email attachments. Additional information including an online inquiry form is available on the Web site.
