The Rainbow Endowment

DescriptionThe Endowment supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organizations whose efforts are national in scope. Grants are awarded in health and community. Health grants advocate for and develop public policy for equal health care treatment or equal access to health care treatment for LGBT individuals. They promote awareness of LGBT mental and physical health issues among consumers and/or health care providers. They also advocate for and develop public policy to prevent further HIV/AIDS infections and improve the lives of people with HIV/AIDS. Community grants support national efforts to develop policies that benefit LGBT youth and/or the children of LGBT families; protect LGBT rights; and promote coalitions that work to strengthen advocacy efforts that improve conditions for LGBT individuals. The Endowment looks specifically for projects and organizations led by LGBT individuals; those that pay attention to LGBT youth, elders, people of color, and families; and those that are intended to respond to the needs and interests of LGBT individuals.
