Description

The Foundation’s Arts Teachers Fellowship Program supports the artistic revitalization of outstanding art teachers in specialized, public arts high schools. The program’s approach to professional development is designed to enhance the effectiveness of art teachers and directly benefit the students they teach. The Foundation will award 20 $5,000 grants to teachers, with a complementary $1,500 grant to the teacher’s school to support post-fellowship activities. The award may be used to defray the cost of tuition and other fees, room and board, travel, materials or equipment purchase for personal art-making, childcare, and other relevant expenses. All permanently assigned full and part-time arts faculty in specialized, public arts high schools are eligible. Teachers of visual arts including film, video, and other media, as well as theater arts, music, dance, and creative writing are eligible to apply. Applicants must have been teaching arts in high school for a minimum of five years and plan to continue as an art teacher in 2005-2006. Complete program information, guidelines, and the application materials can be found on the Web site.
