DescriptionThe Organization has launched Pets and Women’s Shelters (PAWS) program to help women threatened with domestic violence to flee their homes and take their pets with them. The Program acknowledges the richness of the bond between people and their pets, which often provide unconditional love and comfort to adult domestic violence victims and their children. Often, domestic violence victims will remain in a violent situation because they understand the extent of harm that their abusers will likely inflict on their pets should the victim leave. Grants are used to set up on-site housing for pets at women’s shelters. Only domestic/family violence and women’s emergency sheltering agencies (private or public) will be considered for funds. Visit the Web site for more information.
