The Streisand Foundation

DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic vehicle of singer/actress Barbra Streisand. It focuses its grantmaking on national organizations working on environmental preservation; AIDS research, advocacy, service, and litigation; voter education; the protection of civil liberties and civil rights; women’s issues; and nuclear disarmament. The Foundation also funds projects targeting economically disadvantaged youth in Los Angeles. It offers both general and project-specific support. As a rule, the Foundation does not fund local organizations except for projects in Los Angeles that provide educational and extracurricular programs for disadvantaged children and youth. A one- to three-page letter of inquiry will be accepted between September 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
