Wendy P. Mccaw Foundation
Category: Environment
DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic entity of Wendy McCaw, owner of the Santa Barbara News Press. McCaw’s charitable contributions to the Santa Barbara community and to the world at large embody her goal to embrace the quality of life for humans and animals. A staunch defender of wildlife preservation and animal welfare, she’s argued against whaling operations and a federally funded hunt to kill feral pigs on the Santa Barbara Channel Islands. She also helped return Keiko, the orca star of “Free Willy” to the wild. She’s also committed to the restoration and preservation of historic architecture, particularly in Santa Barbara.
