DescriptionThe Foundation focuses its grantmaking to investigate the causes of economic imbalances, the effect of the monetary system in fostering a sustainable economy, and the causes tending to destroy or impair the free-market system. Also of interest are projects that explore and develop free-market solutions and disseminate information on the results and findings. The Foundation funds two categories of projects: traditional economies and ecological economies with a free-market orientation. Approved projects deal with the research and development of innovative ideas, and the application of ideas developed through seed grants and research. No grants are awarded for endowment or to individuals. The trustees do not subscribe to the view that markets provide optimal or socially acceptable solutions to all problems. Projects are sometimes supported that combine market approaches with regulations within a politically acceptable framework. When reviewing grant requests, the trustees favor the following characteristics: innovation, impact, longevity, collaboration, solution oriented, trackability, objectivity, and sustainability. Projects that stress ideological or political activities or applicants who request funds for general education programs are not funded. Requests must be submitted on a formal application form found on the Web site where additional information and application instructions are also found.
