Maytree Foundation
Category: Homelessness & Poverty
DescriptionThe Foundation’s refugee and immigrant grants support community-based programs serving the refugee population in Canada. The Foundation’s objective is to support social justice initiatives. Direct service grants are awarded at the community level for projects that present new and practical approaches leading to improved service delivery or model development and that may lead to policy changes. Public education support is available for initiatives promoting awareness of issues facing refugees and immigrants. Capacity building assistance should build on strengths and capacities of leaders of refugee and immigrant organizations. The Foundation generally doesn’t fund deficit reduction, equipment purchases, building or renovation costs, capital campaigns, or endowments. Nor does it support partisan political or religious activities, legal challenges, conferences and workshops, or programs and services that are part of a government mandate. Applicants are asked to first call the Foundation to discuss the project. Canadian community-based organizations are eligible to apply.
