DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the window, patio door, and storm door company. Its grantmaking is focused on five topics: affordable housing, health and safety, education and youth development, human services, and civic support. Affordable housing grants support organizations that provide affordable housing to low-income families. Health and safety grants seek to promote safe and healthy environments, and to improve health through prevention and education programs primarily for young people, seniors, and those in vulnerable situations. Education grants support organizations that offer intellectual and social opportunities primarily for those in K-12 education. Human services grants seek to enhance self-sufficiency for people living in poverty, senior citizens, and people with disabilities. Civic support grants fund programs that build, promote, and preserve communities, such as public radio or public television, museums, and cultural organizations. Organizations located in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Virginia, and Ontario, Canada, are eligible to apply. The deadlines for proposal submissions are April 15, July 15, October 15, and December 15. Additional information is available on the Web site.
