Astraea Lesbian Foundation For Justice

Description

The Foundation’s mission is to work for social, racial, and economic justice in the United States and abroad. The Foundation’s International Fund for Sexual Minorities supports groups, projects, and organizations led by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) communities and directly address oppression based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression. Eligible organizations and projects must be based in Africa, Asia/the Pacific, Eastern Europe/Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America/the Caribbean, or the Middle East. Non-LGBTI-led groups must demonstrate how they address LGBTI human rights issues and how they involve LGBTIs in organizational and programmatic decision-making. Applicants must be doing work toward social change on issues affecting LGBTI people and/or people who are penalized, persecuted, or harassed for their gender identity, gender expression, and/or sexual orientation. Organizations must have budgets of $500,000 or less. Groups may apply for general or project support. The maximum grant from this Fund is $10,000 and past awards have ranged from $2,000 to $6,000.
