Description

The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the discount retailer. The Foundation’s State Giving Program awards grants at the state and regional level to programs that have a strong impact within the communities the company serves. The objective of the Program is to support unmet needs not addressed by any of the Foundation’s other programs. The Program’s priority funding categories are education, job skills training, health, and environmental sustainability. Education grants target the needs of underserved young people ages 12 to 30. Examples include programs focused on drop-out prevention and improving college access or retention. Job Skills Training grants specifically support services to help people improve their work-related skills. Health grants focus on access to healthcare and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Eligible organizations include free healthcare clinics, immunization programs, and health education organizations. Environmental Sustainability grants include funding for recycling programs, outdoor classrooms, and environmental education initiatives. An online application is available on the Web site.
