Description

The Council’s Equity in Mathematics grants provide support to teachers to incorporate middle school classroom materials or lessons that will improve the achievement of student groups with records of underachievement. The grant is earmarked for a teacher or group of teachers currently teaching mathematics in grades six through eight. Proposals must address the mathematics content as defined in the “Principles and Standards for School Mathematics” of NCTM. Proposals must also address the plan for improving achievement of the targeted students and the anticipated impact the plan expects to have on their achievement. Recipients must be members of NCTM and currently teach math in grades six through eight at least 50 percent of the school day. Activities must be competed between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.
