Description

The Foundation’s Arts program and its initiative, the Fund for National Projects, supports projects designed to strengthen the national infrastructure of the dance, jazz, presenting, and/or theater fields. It also supports the improvement in conditions for the national community of performing artists in jazz, dance, and theater. The Foundation defines national projects as those that engage a broad national constituency, occur once (or periodically) rather than annually, and have the potential to significantly impact a field. The Foundation encourages organizations to submit letters of inquiry for activities such as research projects assessing the national health of arts groups or of individual artists. They will also consider requests for special national convenings for entire performing arts fields (beyond the traditional national annual conventions) as well as special projects that address unique circumstances affecting an entire field. The Foundation’s highest funding priority are projects that improve the health of the Arts Program’s performing arts field and that do not duplicate ongoing efforts or existing services. The Foundation will not support projects by single performing arts entities; individually produced conferences, performances, or symposia; re-granting programs; translations or commissions of new works; or production start-up activities. Single nonprofits and consortia are eligible to apply. National organizations receiving core support from the Foundation are not eligible to request additional support from the Fund for single-discipline activities. The deadline is for letters of inquiry; additional information is available on the Web site.
