Christopher D. Smithers Foundation
Category: Health
DescriptionThe Foundation’s mission is to educate the public that alcoholism is a respectable, treatable disease from which people can and do recover. It also encourages the development of prevention programs and activities with an emphasis on high-risk populations and continuously fights to reduce and eliminate the stigma that’s associated with the disease of alcoholism. Program emphasis should be “abstinence-based” not “moderation management” or “harm reduction.” Funding is focused on prevention, treatment, research, public education, and creating awareness of alcohol-related problems. To apply, send a letter of introduction and include a brief description of the program, amount requested and a budget, a copy of the 501©3 form, and the organization’s most recent annual report.
