Description

The Trust seeks to engage and empower diverse groups to take actions that enrich natural resources and local communities of the Chesapeake Bay region. The Trust's Youth Environmental Education Grant Program provides funds to schools, organizations, and agencies for youth environmental education opportunities and educator support in the state of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay watershed portions of Washington, D.C., Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Support is provided for projects that involve youth and students investigating a local environmental issue, problem, or phenomenon through indoor and outdoor research culminating in developing solutions and taking action in their school or community. Grants are awarded in the tracks: Out-of-School Outdoor Investigations for Youth Provided by Community-Based Organizations; Outdoor Classroom, School-Yard Habitat,, or Community-Based Improvement Requests; Professional Development for Formal, Non-Formal, and Community Educators; and In-School Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences for Pre-K-12 Students.
