DescriptionThe Foundation honors journalists, writers, and public figures who pursue investigative journalism and public policy in service of the common good. Named for the founding president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America who was also an architect of the New Deal, the Foundation's Hillman Prize awards grants in support of investigative journalism, and commentary in service of the common good. The investigative journalism should exemplify reportorial excellence, storytelling skills, and social justice impact. Grants are awarded for the following categories of work: book, newspaper journalism, magazine journalism, broadcast journalism, Web journalism, and opinion and analysis journalism. The Prize is open to journalists and subjects globally although the work must have been intended for and be widely accessible to a United States audience. Self-nominations are allowed.
