DescriptionThe Organization’s mission is to enable composers to make a living writing music and to increase their visible presence as creative artists. The Commissioning Music/USA program subsidizes commissioning fees and offers technical assistance in managing the entire life cycle of a commissioning project. New works can be in any style and may be written for small ensembles, orchestra, chorus, jazz or concert band, as well as vocal or instrumental soloists. A presenter, an ensemble, or an exhibition space wishing to commission a new work may submit an application. Organizations eligible to apply include performing groups or presenters that present a minimum of eight to 10 performances annually or gallery/exhibition spaces that have been in continuous operation for more than three years. They cannot be student or amateur groups.
