The Russell Family Foundation
DescriptionThe Foundation was created when the Frank Russell Company was sold to Northwestern Mutual Life Corporation. The Foundation works with community partners in the Puget Sound region of Washington State toward a vision of a sustainable and peaceful world. Grants are awarded in the following areas: Environment, Community, Leadership, Environmental Education, the George F. Russell Jr. Fund, and Jane?s Fellowship. Environment grants seek to encourage community stewardship of local environments, focusing on Puget Sound waters and the surrounding region. Community grants support community organizations from ground level to system-wide change. Leadership grants seek to expand opportunity and developmental growth for the people of the region. Environmental Education grants focus on programs serving middle and high school students in Jefferson, Kitsap, King, Pierce, and Thurston counties. The George F. Russell Jr. Fund supports nonprofits that reflect the lifelong interest of Russell and are by invitation only. Jane?s Fellowship is a 12-month leadership development experience the equips and empowers grassroots leaders and has a separate deadline date.
