Description

The Foundation was created by the former chairman and editor of The Pueblo Chieftain, the oldest daily newspaper in Colorado. The Foundation's purpose is to assist nonprofit organizations with projects that are designed to improve the lives of people who reside in the newspaper's circulation area. Priority is given to programs and projects that assist communities to provide improvements toward the betterment of the lives of their citizens; help alleviate cycles of illiteracy, poverty, and government dependency; assist young people to broaden their horizons by exposing them to educational opportunities that they may otherwise not have the ability to enjoy. Prior to submitting a formal grants request, the Foundation asks potential applicants to submit a Grant Intent Request Form. The Form, as well as the eligible counties, can be found on the Web site.
