Description

Founded by the late department store magnate, the Foundation's mission is to enrich the quality of life in New York City. It does this through support for programs and institutions that advance opportunity and equity for individuals, families, and communities. Grants are awarded in the following areas: education, health, strengthening communities, and arts and culture. The Foundation also awards grants in the Overarching Services to Nonprofits category. Foundation grants support programs and institutions that enrich the quality of life in the city, with a particular focus on initiatives that help individuals, families, and communities benefit from the services and opportunities that will enable them to achieve their full potential. The Foundation supports programs and organizations within the five boroughs of New York City. Typically, the Foundation uses letters of inquiry to learn more about organizations working in its five program areas. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
