Description

The philanthropic arm of the ninth largest life insurance company in the United States, the Foundation is committed to community building. Its mission is to empower families in its communities to achieve secure tomorrows by investing in programs that promote financial stability, support youth and education, and build vibrant communities. Under the Financial Stability category, the Foundation supports equitable access to basic need resources; affordable, stable housing; and steady employment. Funding priorities are: food, housing, workforce development (including small business support), and emergency basic needs. Youth and education grants support financial literacy and the pursuit of higher education through youth education and engagement programs. Funding priorities are: closing the achievement and inequity gaps, increasing the rates of high school graduation and the pursuit of higher education in underrepresented communities, and increasing financial literacy acumen. Programs in college readiness, mentoring, youth programming, early education, and equity in education are of particular interest. Under the Vibrant Communities category, grants support access to arts, culture, sustainability, community-building, and civic opportunities through direct and continual outreach to underrepresented communities and equitable access to the arts, civic activity, and community engagement. Priorities are: performing arts, museums, cultural programs, environmental sustainability, community building, and civic opportunities.
