Description

Established in 1994 by Irene Zambelli Silverman in honor of her mother, the Foundation funds projects in the textile and needle arts field. The majority of the Foundation's grantmaking goes to exhibitions and programs that combine excellent scholarship and effective interpretation. Projects may be in the arts or humanities, contemporary or historical, but all must have a public benefit. Grants are awarded for research and documentation, conservation, publication, and associated digital projects. The Foundation occasionally supports peer-reviewed fashion- and textile-related monographs and collections of essays from non-profit presses in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions. Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit a short letter of inquiry prior to applying. Some additional information can be found on the Web site.
