Superior Health Foundation

Description

The Foundation works to assist with unmet healthcare needs, health education, and programs and research that prevent illness and promote health in the Upper Peninsula region of Michigan. Formed from an acquisition of Marquette (MI) General Health System by Duke LifePoint, the sale's converted the original nonprofit into a for-profit entity. Grants are awarded in the following areas: the unmet healthcare needs of the indigent and uninsured; healthcare education programs; programs and research that aim to prevent and reduce illness and disease; and other programs to promote the health, education, and welfare of the community. Grants support programs and projects in the entirety of the Michigan Upper Peninsula and the counties of Alger, Baraga, Chippewa, Delta, Dickinson, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Luce, Mackinac, Marquette, Menominee, Ontonagon, and Schoolcraft.
