DescriptionThe Foundation's mission is to build partnerships to strengthen community-driven approaches that advance equity, opportunity, and sustainable systems. Grants are awarded in three priority areas: Expanding Opportunities for Children and Families; Sustaining Environmental Systems; and Strengthening Developing Communities. Under the Expanding Opportunities for Children and Families Program, the Foundation seeks to address the complex issues facing families and communities living in poverty with a focus on education. In this category, grants are awarded in Minneapolis and St. Paul. In the Sustaining Environmental Systems Program, the Foundation seeks to protect, conserve, and restore biodiversity and habitat to Minnesota's watersheds to improve water quality in a changing climate. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking for this program throughout the State of Minnesota. Under the Strengthening Developing Communities Program, the Foundation supports developing communities throughout the world with an emphasis in Africa and Central America.
