Description

The Foundation seeks to encourage conservation and stewardship of the natural environment and to promote music and the arts in the state of Maine. Grants are awarded in the areas of the Environment and the Arts. Environmental grants focus on the conservation of land and water as well as the connection between people and nature. Environmental grants focus on education, stewardship, outdoor recreation and access to the outdoors, climate change adaptation, local and sustainable food access, advocacy, and research and scientific inquiry. Arts grants focus on supporting arts organizations, connecting people with the arts, and paying artists. Arts grants typically support the following disciplines: music, dance, theater, visual arts, and multidisciplinary programs. The Foundation also awards Discovery Grants, which are designed to try something new, respond to an unforeseen challenge or opportunity, or provide professional development.
