Description

The Association’s Foundation for the Improvement of Education supports a variety of efforts by teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff to improve student learning in America’s public schools, colleges, and universities. The Foundation’s Student Achievement Grants provide funds to improve academic achievement. Projects should engage students in critical thinking and problem solving that deepens the knowledge of standards-based subject matter. The work should also improve students’ habits of inquiry, self-directed learning, and critical reflection. Proposals for work that results in low-income and minority student success with honors, advanced placement, or other challenging curricula are of particular interest. Applicants must be practicing public school teachers in grades PreK-12, public school education support professionals, or faculty or staff at public higher education institutions. Preference is given to applicants who serve economically disadvantaged students and to NEA members. Application information is available on the Web site. The Association requests that applicants mail the original and five copies of the application.
