International Literacy Association

Description

The Association works to empower educators, inspire students, and provide leaders with the resources they need to make literacy accessible for all. The Association’s Nila Banton Smith Teacher as Researcher grant program supports teachers who conduct research inquiries in their classrooms and show outstanding leadership in translating theory and current research into practice in developing content area literacy. Applicants must be current members of the Association and be a practicing pre-K-12 teacher with full time or permanent half-time teaching responsibilities (including librarians, Title I teachers, classroom teachers, literacy coaches, and resource teachers). Classroom teachers will be given preference. The Program awards one $5,000 grant per year. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
