Tomberg Family Philanthropies
DescriptionThe Philanthropies is the umbrella organization for all the philanthropy of the Tomberg family. The primary grantmaking consists of two separate charitable funds: The Marty Tomberg Charitable Fund and the Philip and Helen Brecher Charitable Fund. The Philanthropies support programs and projects that help their recipients build capabilities themselves that will last far beyond the end of the specific project. Grants are awarded in the areas of education, the environment, health, and poverty alleviation. Priority is given to pilot programs, new programs, capacity building, and evaluations that allow the Philanthropies to make a larger difference with limited funds that would be possible otherwise. The Philanthropies do not make grants to religious organizations or to fund projects run by religious organizations. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
