Description

The Foundation’s mission is to restore the oceans to full productivity. The Foundation takes a hands-on, partnership-oriented approach to grantmaking. The Foundation supports projects and campaigns aimed at ending overfishing, the creation and expansion of marine protected areas, marine spatial planning, and raising public awareness about the rapid decline in ocean health. With a focus on enduring public/private partnerships and conservation finance, the Foundation’s principal goal is to support governments in achieving their own sustainable fisheries and ocean conservation goals. The Foundation’s Rapid Ocean Conservation grants program provides small grants with a quick turnaround time for solutions to emerging conservation issues. The Rapid Ocean Conservation grants supports higher-risk ideas at a low financial cost and engages with small, local nongovernmental organizations on a global scale. There is no deadline for the Rapid Ocean Conservation grants but there are deadlines for the Foundation’s other grant programs. Additional information about the Foundation’s other programs and an online application system can be found on the Web site.
