Description

The Foundation seeks to promote the development of an equitable, sustainable, and productive society in Latin America and to enhance the understanding in the U.S. of Latin America and how U.S. policies may affect the region. The Foundation awards two types of grants: institutional and field research. Institutional grants seek to create effective policy changes to improve the lives of Latin Americans. Field Research grants are designed to provide budding scholars with a first-hand experience of their region of study, regardless of academic discipline. In addition, the Foundation also supports visiting professors and practitioners from Latin America and Iberia to serve as Tinker Visiting Professors in five major universities in the United States. And the Foundation annually awards the TinkerMuse Prize for Science and Policy in Antarctica. Deadlines for the Institutional grants are March 1 and Sept. 15; for the Field Research grants it is Oct. 1. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
