Sheltering Arms Foundation

DescriptionThe Foundation originated as an orphanage that created a safe haven for abandoned or homeless children to be loved and cared for. From there it morphed into a hospital caring for polio victims and then a school focused on meeting the needs of developmentally disabled children. The Foundation’s mission is to invest in the lives of Minnesota’s children and help them reach their full potential. The Foundation funds nonprofits and supports policies that benefit children and their families who have the least access to resources. As a supporting organization of the Episcopal Church of Minnesota, the Foundation funds advocacy efforts that increase access to high-quality, culturally appropriate early childhood care and education and youth development/out-of-school time opportunities. The Foundation funds political networks, coalitions, and campaigns that lobby, advocate, and organize for children’s early learning and life success. It also supports training to help parents become advocates for their children’s early learning and out of school time success. Prior to submitting a funding request, organizations are asked to contact the Foundation to talk about how a project fits with the Foundation’s guidelines.
